Hi! I’m Alex! I am …
… a drummer, music historian, and nonprofit director who recently earned my M.A. with merit in Popular Music & Culture studying at Leeds Beckett University in the United Kingdom.
While my career highlight is earning musical patronage from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II*, you might know me better as the drummer of the punk band Rehasher, where I drum behind Roger Lima from Less Than Jake. I also am a private drum instructor and founded the nonprofit Upbeat GNV, an organization targeting reducing held stigmas and financial blockades toward mental health treatment for musicians in my hometown of Gainesville, FL.
I also possess a B.S. in Journalism earned from the University of Florida, and have served simultaneously as the Metro & University Desk editor for the Independent Florida Alligator, and have dabbled in sports coverage in my past as well. When I’m not obsessively digging for my next favorite song, I’m making the playoffs in my fantasy football leagues, replaying one of my favorite classic JRPGs, or checking out that cool new restaurant everyone’s raving about.
* Very technically.

In 2022, I earned my M.A. in Popular Music & Culture from Leeds-Beckett University in the United Kingdom. Along the way, I worked on projects covering practical effects of licensing restrictions on music podcast distribution, analytical strategies for genreless music curation, and critical explorations of gender politics in the discourse surrounding Disco Demolition Night. I also performed an in-depth Musematic analysis of the work “360 No Scope” by Ghost Town Remedy.
